we've had alot of past system names since our discovery, which won't be shared for privacy, but i'd like to say it's at least 4 at this point. evidently, we've never been super settled on a name.

this is due to the fact that alot of the names we had in the past were picked without input from a larger number of headmates, often only settling on something that a small portion of our system was actually interested in, or over-generalizing and as such making it not feel personal to any of us.

we settled on the "what once was system / collective" when we settled on realizing most of us are tied to a feeling of nostalgia. it's something that really brings us all together, either because we're tied down to past trauma, mourning the childhood we missed, or generally into the vibe/aesthetic of liminal spaces, especially those that are like kids spaces such as daycares.

"wowsys" just seems like a natural shortening of the long name, and we all find it pretty silly, so it's been somewhat officially somewhat unofficially adopted as our second system name.

"carnival" is slightly different. another aesthetic that most of us like can be found across the main pages of this site, even including this one-- the dark, with neon colors across it in some way. when we were looking for images (far before making this site, but still on this aesthetic) we found an image of a ferris wheel covered in neon lights, in the dark, just like this (i'll put it below here.)

anyway, when we found that image, we made the connection;

a ferris wheel is found at a carnival. carnivals are places where people can feel like kids again and enjoy themselves. they're inherently nostalgic. carnival sounds like a good name.

and that's pretty much the lore of it. thanks for reading :]
